Trials and Experiments

My works are centred around the natural world and aims to explore human connections with nature. I am particularly interested in painting trees and flowers as they spark old memories of childhood, happiness and well-being. I would often visit gardens or forests, take pictures and recreate them through traditional mediums such as paintings or dry-point etchings.

These artworks are my current experiments. I am mainly using acrylic, watercolour & gouache paints, pens and ink to achieve a layering affect creating depth in my work which can reveal the past and present moments. My artistic language consists of celebrating the use of colour and compositions of lines and shapes. I am also experimenting with a new semi-abstract style to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.

My aim is to provoke thought and encourage my audience to recall happy moments in their life, a memory or place that makes them feel excited and inspired. This is my journey and memories through a semi-abstract approach.

Underground Lines

Facing the windows in the tube train, I realize that instead of a view towards the far horizon and the expansive thoughts that such a view allows, the rhythm and repetition of the blurry power lines on the wall of the tunnel forces my thoughts inwards towards reflection.

Introspective thoughts are helped along by the flow of the moving train and creates internal space of limitless potential.

The tube tunnels flow like underground rivers, mirroring the flow of blood through my body. My mind is still, while my body continues accelerating through time and space.

The works in this exhibition reflect elements of these journeys both internal and external.

Being perfectly still,
Yet moving,
Running,
Like an underground river,
Your body loves,
Changes and disintegrates.
